Percussion Plus PP1140 Brass African Talking Drum [HM6902]

by Percussion Plus

The traditional African Talking Drum is an hourglass shaped two headed drum whose twin heads are laced together with rope or leather.

Normally held under the arm or hung over the shoulder, the player hits the drum using a curved stick or mallet whilst squeezing the tension ropes to vary the tone to enable the drum to “talk” or produce tones that sound like words. The talking drum has a long history in West Africa.

The embossed brass shell talking drum is beautifully crafted and comes supplied with a bag and a mallet.
