Adams Solist Series Xylophones
Adams Solist Series Xylophones feature a choice between prime Honduras Rosewood, affordable
Pau Rosa or durable Synthetic Zelon bars and include many of the same great designs and
features found on our higher-end Concert Series Xylophones.
For the university or competitive high school band in search of an ultra high-quality
xylophone with unmatched durability for both indoor and outdoor use, the Adams Solist Series
is the perfect choice. Whether it's the exclsusive Honduras rosewood-, the entry-level Pau
Rosa- or the Adams' specially designed synthetic zelon bar material, the Solist xylophone
produces a high-quality warm tone, with great projection throughout the entire range of the
instrument.
Like all Adams Xylophones, the Solist models feature precision tuning to an incredible
sixth overtone - this allows the synthetic zelon bars to produce a truly balanced, warm and
resonant sound with perfect pitch. The 3.5 octave Soloist Xylophone features uniform bars,
and slightly graduated bars on the 4.0 octave.
Quint or Octave Tuning. The Honduras Rosewood and Zelon bars of the Adams Solist Series
Xylophones are available in two different tunings: quint and octave. Both ways have
differently tuned harmonics, giving them a characteristic sound.
Quint Tuning (not on Pau Rosa)Quint tuning has a fifth tuned in between the fundamental
and double octave for the short, penetrating sound that cuts through the largest ensembles.
Quint tuning was the used on the classic American Xylophones of the 20s and 30s.
Octave tuning has the first overtone the two octaves above the fundamental for a clear and
brilliant sound, and is mostly popular in Europe.
The Adams Solist Series Xylophones keyboards are available in three types of wood.
The high standard set by Adams Honduras Rosewood is the result of years of careful,
intensive advancement. The clear, precise pitch of Adams Rosewood begins with selecting only
the best wood available. Before tuning, the rosewood is aged for years in a climate
controlled room to ensure proper drying and moisture control.
Pau Rosa Offering a bright, sharp sound, Pau Rosa is an excellent, economical alternative
to Honduras Rosewood for Xylophone Bars.
Adams Zelon synthetic bars are specially designed for outdoor and intensive school use.
Zelon is resilient, durable, and resistant to changes in temperature and humidity, and is an
excellent choice for schools, beginning students, and outdoor ensembles.
Adams Solist Series Xylophone end caps and rails are finished in a durable Black Tolex
vinyl covering that has a classic look on stage or from the field. Our Patented Apex height
adjustment system is an elegant design that allows for quick, precise adjustments. No other
xylophone on the market is as easy to transport as the Adams xylophone.
The Adams Apex mallet frame is designed to provide the best possible sound, to deliver a
frictionless experience, and to surprise with astonishing and modern looks, the Adams Apex
frame reaches a new peak in design. Apex replaces the Voyager and Traveller frames.
Structural rigidity is the most important part of the Apex design. The position of the
high-strength central crossbar creates a very low center of gravity for peerless ease of
motion and the ultimate in stability. Combined with reinforced crossbar connections, the
strength and support of the Apex side pillars provide less frame-noise than any other frame
available.
The time tested Adams height adjustment mechanism is the most intuitive, simple, and
strongest system in the market, and has been transformed in an improved design for the Apex
frame. With its unique side pillars and improved crossbar connections, the Apex frame is
quick to assemble and easy to transport.
